Frank Kersting and his wife Carol Kersting came to Korea from 1971 to 1974 as a member of the American Peace Corps and served at Dongsan Christian Hospital.
Kersting served as a hearing loss and speech therapist at the otolaryngology department, and operated a speech therapy room in the hospital for the first time.
On October 8, 2009, the Kersting couple visited Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center again as the 27th Peace Corps member as part of the "A project to invite U.S. Peace Corps members to revisit Korea in the past" project implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Korea Foundation for International Exchange.
At the time, in a conversation with Cha Soon-Do, the head of the medical center, he said, "I guessed that it would greatly contribute to the development of medical care in Korea, seeing the excellence of the medical staff at Dongsan Christian Hospital in the 1970s and the dedicated medical service of employees. I'm so happy and pleased to grow and develop into a large-scale medical center with 1,000 beds."
