Introduction
Began in December February 1921 as ‘The Dongsan Hospital Evangelistic Society (“Evangelistic Society”), the Dongsan Medical Mission and Welfare Association was established for the purpose of preaching the gospel through medical services and social welfare services based on the soul of Christianity.

At that time, all 26 employees were engaged in corporate activities as the members of the Evangelistic Society and they founded a totalof 147 churches in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region from the year of establishment to1941. All member of the Evangelistic Society donated 1% of their wages for evangelistic activities and volunteering work and the ‘1% Love Sharing’ has been continuedon over the past century to in 2017. Launching ‘Medical Mission Work Corps for Doctorless Villages’ in the 1950s, they started to provide free-of-charge medical services while making a tour to doctorless villages and also began to make medical treatment tours to orphanage. Other than thoselisted above, they have undertaken such missions as delivering scholarships to disadvantaged youths and the children of pastors in farming and fishing villages, along with sponsoring cooperative organizations and dependent churches. On top of this, they have been for all faculty members to promote faith and spiritual living. To this and we are carrying out the faith training worship service, thanksgiving worship services and Christmas worship services soon.

The Evangelistic Society opened a gateway to overseas medical services with the start of medical mission in Bangladesh in the early 1990s to vitalize overseas medical mission. In July 1995, they established the ‘Almaty Dongsan Medical Center (Now Almaty Dongsan Hospital)’ in Almaty city in Kazakhstan and have continued to work on overseas medical mission volunteer works delivering the love of Christ Jesus while keeping all parts of the world in mind as a mission field, including Nepal, Ethiopia, Laos, Cambodia and Tajikistan. Since the establishment of corporation in June 10, 1996, the Evangelistic Society renamed it as the ‘Dongsan Medical Mission & Welfare Association’, being used now. All our ministers are making great efforts to remember and continue our earnest missional calling and roles passed down from about one century.

Strengthening members’ Christian faith, engaging in mission and relief operation for in-hospital patients and guardians.
