Jean Johnson visited Korea in 1965 on a dispatch of the United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. She worked as an English secretary for the hospital director Howard Moffett missionary at Dongsan Christian Hospital. She served as a medical secretary, taught English at a nursing school affiliated with Dongsan Christian Hospital, and guided the religious life of nursing students.
After completing her hospital ministry, she worked as an English teacher at Geochang High School in Gyeongsangnam-do from 1968 to 1977, and later moved to Seoul to conduct broadcast missionary work at Far East Broadcasting and returned to the United States.
