William Van Cleve, who was sent to Northern Presbyterian U.S.A. with the support of the Congregational Church in Redondo Beach, California, was sent to Korea as a missionary in 1963 amid urgent need for hospital facility management due to the long-term development and expansion of Dongsan Christian Hospital. Van Cleve's wife Becky also visited Korea as a nursing missionary. Van Cleve is an electrical and mechanical engineer and very knowledgeable about customs issues.
He came to the hospital and took charge of the Ministry of Youngseon, and Van Cleve spared no effort and effort to make Dongsan Christian Hospital, which started as Jejungwon, a leader in the construction of domestic hospitals. It also took on invaluable tasks in overseeing important building programs in Daegu and Gyeongju.
And whenever he went to the Muui Village treatment every Saturday at the hospital, he also attended and helped with the treatment on the one hand, and on the other hand, he delivered evangelism and helped spread the gospel. Van Cleve's wife Backy devoted herself to volunteer work as a part-time nurse at the hospital.
