Anna Bergman, who was called Bu OkMan, was born on January 11, 1894 and after graduating from Ohio State University, she visited to Korea as a missionary in 1921 as an Northern Presbyterian U.S.A.
After visiting Korea, she served as a teacher at Pyengyang Sungui Girls' School, especially as a Ban Gongbu(半工部) guidance teacher, who was in charge of developing the market for works produced by students. In October 1930, she was awarded a commendation for 10 years of service at the 27th anniversary ceremony. However, when the school was closed in 1938 due to the issue of visiting the shrine, she moved to Pyengyang Christian Hospital and served as a nutritionist before being forced to leave the country by the Japanese in 1941.
After the Korean War, she came to Korea after the armistice in 1953 and worked on relief and education mission projects in Daegu. Missionary Howard Maffet wrote in a 1957 hospital mission report, "Anna Bergman is a teacher at Shinmyeong School and a senior missionary. I'm away from the board for a while, but we're always grateful for her consistent advice and interest". Through this, it can be seen that she the board for a while of Dongsan Christian Hospital as a director of the Daegu Missionary Branch.
She retired as a missionary in 1959 and returned home, and on February 27, 1978, at the age of 84, she was called by God.
