Helen McQuilkin Henderson, who was called Hyun Hye-ryeon, was born in Seattle, Washington. On October 30, 1920, She visited Korea with her husband Lloyd Henderson as a missionary for the Northern Presbyterian U.S.A. and toured a Korean village in the North Bay area in Heunggyeong, Manchuria, with the Bible Study and missionary work.
Unfortunately, on October 16, 1932, her husband, Henderson, was martyred by the Japanese army's shooting on a tour and came to Daegu with Henderson's brother, Herold Henderson, to continue his missionary work.
According to a report by Howard Moffett, the seventh director of Dongsan Christian Hospital, "Handerson is very helpful by teaching the Bible to nurses." As a Bible teacher at the hospital nursing school, she worked as a ministry to help nurses' spiritual growth through Bible study.
Henderson later remarried to a missionary Chamness and returned to the U.S. to live in Alinal Drive, San Rafael, CA.
