Katherine Clark Hong, who was called Kwak Gajeon, was born in Seoul on July 19, 1919. Her father was a missionary Kwak An-ryeon (Charles Allen Clark), who taught preaching and pastoral studies to Korean churches in the early days, and her elder brother was missionary Kwak An-jeon(Alen Clark). A graduate of St. Paul's Collegeand the Biblical Seminary of New York, she succeeded her father and brother as a Korean missionary in 1947.
After visiting Korea, missionary work was carried out around Daegu and Andong. She worked as a Bible teacher at Dongsan Christian Hospital and married Hong Kyung-seon. She took the lead in evangelizing the region by distributing clothing relief products to churches in the Gyeongan Presbyterian Church. After taking refuge in Tokyo due to the Korean War, she participated in publishing hymns for U.N. troops who fought in the Korean War, returned to Korea after the war, and participated in the establishment of Keimyung University, and also served as the first director of Keimyung Christian Academy.

On January 20, 1956, Cheongwangwon, which began with 32 children as a branch of Aeyangwon in Daegu, was operated. The building collapsed because of the typhoon and a new building was built on 640 pyeong(0.522801 acre) of land at 650 Sankyok-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu. On February 16, 1960, she became the first chairman of the board of directors.
In 1968, she retired from her ministry centered on the missionary branches of Gyeongsangbuk-do and Daegu, and returned to the U.S. and was called by God on January 22, 2002.
